About Us

Inspired by two local ladies, Betty Norris and Maureen Bragg, who with great enthusiasm and commitment formed Knowle Scottish Country Dance Club in 1971 and we have been dancing at the same venue ever since. Having celebrated our 40th anniversary we were ready to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in 2021  however, due to the pandemic this will now be rescheduled for our next dance.

We are a small and friendly group dancing for enjoyment and fitness and will be delighted to welcome anyone interested in Scottish Country Dancing with or without any experience. Please do come along and give it a try.

Our weekly class held at Knowle United Reformed Church Hall, welcomes all levels of dancing experience and is expertly lead by an accomplished RSCDS qualified teacher.

We are an RSCDS Affiliated group and enjoy a close association with the Birmingham RSCDS Branch where some of our group hold RSCDS membership and attend workshops, socials and dances organised by the branch.

The highlight of our dancing season is our annual dance when we welcome other dancers from the region to join us dancing to a live Scottish Country Dance Band, supper and a most enjoyable evening. Whilst this is our preferred type of event, circumstances may dictate that we organise a social dance, dancing to recorded music with dancers bringing a plate of food to share. Please therefore verify the specific type of event that we have currently organised.

We also like to mark other significant Scottish events with our St. Andrew's night social and a Burn's supper including haggis and neeps which is well supported and enjoyed by all.
